Longleaf’s sustainability was designed with “green” in mind and we are proud that we have achieved our Green Development designation from the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC).
Green features within Longleaf include:
- Walking and biking paths and trails. Tree-lined streets were designed to connect each neighborhood reducing the dependency on the automobile. Through these paths, residents can walk to the “A” rated elementary school, downtown shops, parks or your neighbor’s house for dinner.
- Native and drought-tolerant landscaping. Parks are built to include soil moisture sensors that substantially reduce water consumption.
- Low outdoor lighting. Downward directed street lighting reduces light pollution.
- Preservation of conservation areas and wetlands. Conservation areas and wetlands have been permanently preserved.
- Community parks. A decentralized neighborhood park network allows close access and enjoyment for all homes including several parks that are certified “green” by the University of Florida’s “Florida Yards and Neighborhood” program (FYN).
- Your home. The opportunity to buy and build a certified "green" home from one of our award-winning builders.
